In Akron, we believe that public art provides meaning to our community, reflects the history of our city, differentiates our neighborhoods, and humanizes our environment.

Administrative Guide
The Administrative Guide outlines the roles and responsibilities of citizens, City staff and elected officials in the development, funding, and implementation of the City of Akron Public Art Program. The Guide provides structures and requirements for the development of an annual Public Art Work Plan, the funding and acquisition of public art, the selection of artists and artwork, and the implementation and conservation of the Akron Public Art Collection.
Master Plan: Community Vision
As part of the cultural planning process, residents and stakeholders expressed a desire for public art to be integrated as part of the built environment and public spaces throughout Akron. As a result, the City of Akron Public Art Program is housed within the Office of Integrated Development, governed by the Akron Public Art Commission, and administered by a dedicated City staff.

Thank-you!
We would like to thank the thousands of residents who shared their passion, vision, and talent to develop the Public Art Program. A special thanks also goes to GAR Foundation and Knight Foundation for fully resourcing the multi-year effort, and to ArtsNow for guiding the process every step of the way.
